What counts as a stretch limousine

Dubai calls most chauffeured luxury cars a “limousine”, and RTA licenses that work as passenger transport by luxury motor vehicles. A stretch limousine is narrower: a car or SUV that a coachbuilder has lengthened in the middle, with side-facing bench seats along the cabin.

That cabin is the point of booking one. It seats 8 to 12 people facing each other, which a sedan, SUV or van does not. Every stretch car on this page comes through Assure’s partner network, subject to availability, and none is part of Assure’s own fleet.

The four stretch models partners list

Hummer H2 stretch, up to 12 passengers

This is the “Hummer limo”, and the largest of the four. It starts from the Hummer H2, which AM General built for General Motors in Mishawaka, Indiana, from 2002 to 2009. The SUV body sits higher than a sedan stretch, so the step up into the cabin is taller. Plan for that if anyone is wearing a long dress or heels.

Cadillac Escalade stretch, up to 10 passengers

Cadillac still builds the Escalade, so this is the only stretch here that can start from a car newer than 2023. The seat count depends on the conversion. The standard 6-seat Escalade is part of Assure’s own fleet and sits with the luxury SUVs, if your group is 6 or fewer.

Chrysler 300 stretch, up to 8 passengers

A sedan-based stretch, lower to the ground than the two SUV conversions, so getting in is a short step down rather than a climb. Chrysler ended 300 production by 31 December 2023 at its Brampton plant in Ontario. Every 300 stretch therefore starts from a 2023 or older car.

Lincoln Town Car stretch, up to 8 passengers

The Town Car was a common base for limousine conversions for decades. Ford built the last one on 29 August 2011 at St. Thomas Assembly in Ontario. Any Town Car stretch was built in 2011 or earlier, so ask for the model year first.

With every seat taken, plan on 2 large suitcases and 2 cabin bags in any of the four. Stretch cars are built for people, not luggage. For an airport run with a suitcase each, a van or a Sprinter from the main fleet is the better fit.

A stretch for the wedding party, another car for the couple

A stretch moves the bridal party as one group. For the couple, the side benches and the sedan-height roof of the Chrysler 300 and Lincoln stretches mean stooping and sliding along the seat in a full dress.

If the dress matters, book the couple’s car separately. The Rolls-Royce Phantom and Cullinan have rear-hinged rear doors that leave the way clear for a long dress. Both are on the ultra-luxury and exotic cars page, also through partners.

Before you confirm: model year, colour and the actual car

Three of the four base models are out of production: the H2 since 2009, the Town Car since 2011 and the Chrysler 300 since 2023. Ask for the model year and colour of the exact car booked for your date before you confirm.

RTA’s permit for luxury passenger transport ties each operator to the vehicle categories, types, numbers and maximum years in use that RTA approves. A stretch quoted for your date should be one the partner runs under that approval, so ask if you want it confirmed in writing.

Party buses and groups above 12

The largest stretch here seats 12. For 13 to 22 people, the practical choices are:

• Two stretch cars travelling together, for example a Hummer H2 and an Escalade for up to 22.
• A Mercedes-Benz Sprinter from Assure’s own fleet, built with 13 or 19 seats, listed on the minibuses page.

None of the partners lists a party bus today. A request for one is still passed on, with your date, hours and head count.

Pickup points and turning space

A stretch car needs a long, straight kerb and cannot make a tight U-turn. When you book, give the exact pickup point: a hotel’s main entrance, a villa gate or a tower’s lobby drop-off. If the street is narrow or a dead end, say so, and the meeting point can move to the nearest main road.
