Intercity transfers across the UAE

Assure drives private transfers with a chauffeur from Dubai to every other emirate, and arranges pickups in other emirates on request. From Downtown Dubai, central Sharjah is about 26 km by road, Ras Al Khaimah 109 km, Fujairah 120 km and Al Ain 136 km. Each trip gets one quote for the whole car, sent on WhatsApp.

How an intercity transfer works

  1. Message the two addresses, the date and pickup time, one way or return, and how many people and large suitcases are travelling. WhatsApp +971 56 684 8148 or fill in the trip ticket on this page.
  2. A single price for the car and the route comes back on WhatsApp, and you confirm it in the same chat.
  3. Your chauffeur collects you at the door of a hotel, home or office. From an airport, the chauffeur waits in arrivals with your name on a board.
  4. The car drives straight to your address in the other emirate, with any stops you agreed in the quote.

Dubai to Sharjah, and the morning queue on Al Ittihad Road

Downtown Dubai to central Sharjah is about 26 km, around 27 minutes when the road is clear. The car takes a short stretch of Sheikh Zayed Road and Umm Hurair Road to Al Ittihad Road (E11), then Al Wahda Street into Sharjah. From Dubai Marina the drive is about 44 km and 41 minutes.

Clear roads are not the norm at commuter hours. In June 2026, Gulf News placed the worst morning traffic inbound to Dubai on the E11, Al Ittihad Road and the Al Nahda corridor. In a May 2026 Khaleej Times report, drivers said trips of 30 to 35 minutes at 7:30am were taking close to an hour.

Flying out of Sharjah International? Give us the departure time and we set the pickup with that queue in mind. Arrivals and the meeting point are on our Sharjah airport transfers page.

Dubai to Ajman and Umm Al Quwain

Ajman is the next emirate up the coast after Sharjah, about 45 km and 38 minutes from Downtown Dubai. The quickest line skips central Sharjah: Al Khail Road, about 20 km of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311), then Sheikh Ammar Street into Ajman. From Dubai International (DXB) it is about 34 km.

Umm Al Quwain is about 64 km from Downtown, roughly 55 minutes without traffic. The route follows the E311 for about 17 km, crosses to the E11 on the Sharjah ring road and takes King Faisal Road into the town.

How far is Ras Al Khaimah from Dubai?

Central Ras Al Khaimah is about 109 km from Downtown Dubai, roughly 1 hour 20 minutes without traffic. About 79 km of that is the E311, which runs inland past Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain. The last 9 km into the city are on the E11.

From To Road distance Without traffic
Downtown Dubai Ras Al Khaimah city about 109 km 1 h 19 min
Dubai Marina Ras Al Khaimah city about 128 km 1 h 35 min
Dubai International (DXB) Ras Al Khaimah city about 98 km 1 h 20 min
Downtown Dubai Ras Al Khaimah International (RKT) about 112 km 1 h 21 min
Downtown Dubai Jebel Jais, near the top of the road about 154 km 2 h 3 min

If you land at Ras Al Khaimah’s own airport, our RKT arrivals pickup page shows where the chauffeur waits. A drop at a RAK beach hotel and a day on the mountain are different bookings. For Jebel Jais with the car waiting at the viewpoints, see the Jebel Jais day trip from Dubai.

Dubai to Fujairah through the mountains

Fujairah city is about 120 km from Downtown Dubai, roughly 1 hour 30 minutes without traffic. The road leaves Dubai on the E44 through Ras Al Khor and Al Awir. It crosses the inland plain on the E102 Maliha Road for about 39 km, then climbs through the Hajar Mountains on the E84 for the last 40 km.

Dibba, at the northern end of the east coast, is about 146 km and 1 hour 50 minutes from Downtown. A day of stops along that coast, with your own car and driver, is our Fujairah east coast trip.

Dubai to Al Ain on the E66

Al Ain is in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, inland on the Oman border. From Downtown Dubai it is about 136 km, roughly 1 hour 30 minutes, and about 115 km of it is the E66 Dubai to Al Ain Road.

The return pickup in Al Ain is arranged with an Abu Dhabi-licensed car through our partner network, subject to availability. Flying in to Al Ain instead of Dubai? See pickups at Al Ain airport (AAN).

Dubai to Hatta for the day

Hatta belongs to the emirate of Dubai but sits in the Hajar Mountains, about 109 km from Downtown and roughly 1 hour 25 minutes without traffic. The E44 runs out through Al Awir and the Sharjah town of Al Madam before climbing into the mountains.

For a there-and-back day, put the hours you plan to spend in Hatta in your request, and the quote covers the wait. A planned day with the dam and the heritage village is on our Hatta tour from Dubai page.

Routes that start in Abu Dhabi

These three routes start in the capital. The pickup is arranged with an Abu Dhabi-licensed car through our partner network, subject to availability, and we confirm the car for your date.

  • Abu Dhabi to Al Ain: about 159 km and 1 h 32 min without traffic. Some 115 km of it is the E22 Al Ain Road.
  • Abu Dhabi to Sharjah: about 161 km and 1 h 49 min. The car leaves Abu Dhabi on the E10, then stays on the E11 through Dubai on Sheikh Zayed Road and into Sharjah on Al Ittihad Road.
  • Abu Dhabi to Ras Al Khaimah: about 245 km and 2 h 40 min. The route follows the E10 and E11 into Dubai. After about 19 km of Sheikh Zayed Road it turns onto the E311 for 115 km, skipping central Dubai and Sharjah.

The Sharjah and RAK runs both pass the Darb gate at Ghantoot on Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Street. It has charged AED 4 per crossing, at every hour of every day, since 4 May 2026. The Sharjah run also passes Salik gates on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.

Taxi meter or one quote for the car

A taxi charges per trip on the meter: a starting fare, a rate per kilometre and waiting time, plus tolls. A private transfer is one quote for the whole car and the route, agreed on WhatsApp before you travel.

Taxi licensed in What the official tariff says
Dubai (RTA taxi tariff) Street pickups start at AED 5 from 6am to 10pm and AED 5.50 overnight. Airport taxis start at AED 20. A fee for entering Sharjah can apply, plus Salik.
Sharjah (SRTA FAQs) For trips to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the meter starts at AED 20 and the passenger pays the toll gates. Booking through the call centre adds AED 5.
Abu Dhabi (Abu Dhabi Mobility taxi fares) Silver taxis start at AED 5 by day and AED 5.50 from 10pm to 6am, then charge AED 1.82 per km and AED 0.50 per minute of waiting.

On a 161 km run from Abu Dhabi to Sharjah, the meter counts every kilometre and adds waiting time in slow traffic. A group of 6 with luggage may need 2 taxis on 2 meters. One GMC Yukon or Mercedes-Benz V-Class takes all 6 people.

Pickups that start outside Dubai

Assure is RTA licensed in Dubai, and trips that start in Dubai run under that licence to any emirate. A pickup in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah or Abu Dhabi is arranged with a car licensed in that emirate. Those cars come from our partner network, subject to availability.

Send both legs of a return trip in one message, with the times and addresses. We tell you which car covers each leg before you confirm.

Which car for a drive between emirates

Group Car Passengers Large suitcases
1 to 3 people Lexus ES 300h, Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7 Series 3 2
Up to 6 people GMC Yukon or Cadillac Escalade 6 3
A family with 4 big cases Mercedes-Benz V-Class 6 4
7 to 13 people Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, 13 seats 13 6
14 to 19 people Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, 19 seats 19 3
Larger groups 35 and 50 seat coaches 35 or 50 15 or 35

The suitcase column counts large checked cases with every seat taken. The coaches are available through our partner network, subject to availability. For the 2 h 40 min run from Abu Dhabi to Ras Al Khaimah, a group of 4 has more room in a 6-seat Yukon or V-Class.

Beyond the UAE border

Routes into Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain involve passports, border posts and vehicle permits. They are covered on our cross-border transfers page. Muscat, for example, is about 409 km from Downtown Dubai through the Hatta crossing.

What sets the price

Every quote is made for your trip, so no rate card. These are the things it depends on.

Ask for a quote
  • The pickup and drop-off addresses, and the road distance between them
  • The car class, and whether the group needs one car or two
  • One way, return, or the car waiting at the far end
  • Whether the trip starts in Dubai or in another emirate
  • Tolls on the route, such as Salik in Dubai and Darb in Abu Dhabi
  • Night travel, public holidays and event days
  • Extra stops on the way

Questions and answers

How much is a taxi from Sharjah to Dubai?

There is no fixed fare. The Sharjah RTA says a Sharjah taxi heading to Dubai starts its meter at AED 20, then charges for the distance, and the passenger pays any toll gates. Central Sharjah to Downtown Dubai is about 26 km, so the queue on Al Ittihad Road decides much of the final amount. A private car with Assure is quoted once for the whole route on WhatsApp.

How far is Ras Al Khaimah from Dubai?

About 109 km by road from Downtown Dubai to central Ras Al Khaimah, roughly 1 hour 20 minutes without traffic on OSRM figures. Most of the drive is Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311). From Dubai Marina it is about 128 km, and from Dubai International (DXB) about 98 km. Allow extra time at the weekday morning and evening peaks on the Dubai side.

How much does a private transfer between emirates cost?

Assure quotes each route on WhatsApp instead of publishing fares. The price covers the whole car, not each passenger, and is agreed before the day. It depends on the two addresses, the car class, one way or return, waiting time, stops, the hour you travel and tolls such as Salik and Darb. Send those details and the quote comes back on WhatsApp, which is answered 24/7.

Can you pick me up in Sharjah, Ajman or Abu Dhabi?

Yes, on request. Trips that start in Dubai run under Assure's RTA licence. A pickup that starts in another emirate is arranged with a car licensed in that emirate, through our partner network and subject to availability. Send the pickup address, the date and the time, and we confirm which car covers the trip before you book.

How long is the drive from Dubai to Fujairah?

About 1 hour 30 minutes for roughly 120 km from Downtown Dubai to Fujairah city, without traffic. The road leaves Dubai on the E44, crosses the inland plain on the E102 Maliha Road and then climbs through the Hajar Mountains on the E84. Dibba, at the northern end of the east coast, is about 146 km and 1 hour 50 minutes from Downtown.

Is Hatta part of Dubai?

Yes. Hatta belongs to the emirate of Dubai, though it sits in the Hajar Mountains away from the rest of the emirate. It is about 109 km from Downtown Dubai, roughly 1 hour 25 minutes without traffic, on the E44 through Al Awir and the Sharjah town of Al Madam. For a day trip, the car can wait while you visit and then drive you back.

Can the car wait and drive me back the same day?

Yes. Put the hours you plan to spend at the destination and the time you want to leave in your request, for example 5 hours in Al Ain. The quote then covers both legs and the wait. One way and return are priced differently, so say which one you need when you send the route on WhatsApp.

Is Al Ain closer to Dubai or to Abu Dhabi?

Dubai is a little closer by road. Downtown Dubai to central Al Ain is about 136 km on the E66, and central Abu Dhabi to Al Ain is about 159 km, mostly on the E22. Without traffic both drives take about 1 hour 30 minutes on OSRM figures. Al Ain itself is in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
