Can you hire a driver for a month in Dubai?
Yes. A monthly plan puts a driver and a car on fixed days and hours, for example Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 15:00. You pay one quoted price per month rather than booking day by day.
The permit matters. RTA’s Takamul permit, announced in March 2025, lets limousine companies and car rental firms work together so a customer can hire a luxury car with a chauffeur for up to one month. The announcement does not cover plans longer than a month. Ask us which permit and contract cover your plan, and get the answer in writing before you sign.
If you only need a driver for a week or two, book a private driver by the day instead.

Monthly plans for families
A family plan can be built around the school run and the hours either side of it.
- School runs: a 07:00 pickup in Mirdif or Arabian Ranches, the drop-off, then the afternoon collection at the end of the school day.
- Errands and appointments: groceries, clinic visits and after-school activities between the two runs.
- Parents and grandparents: a regular driver for older relatives who no longer drive.
- Weekends: add Saturday for a day out, such as Hatta, about 109 km from Downtown Dubai.
Cars for family plans start with a business sedan such as the Lexus ES 300h. With 3 or more children and school bags, a 6-seat Kia Carnival or Hyundai Staria fits better.
Employing a driver yourself, or a monthly plan

Monthly plans for companies
A company plan can cover one executive or a small team.
- Executive drivers: morning collection from home, meetings across DIFC and Business Bay, and runs to Dubai International Airport, about 14 to 21 km from Downtown Dubai depending on the terminal.
- Day trips to the capital: Abu Dhabi is about 139 km away, around 1 hour 30 minutes without traffic, and the car waits through the meetings.
- Replacement driver: ask for cover when the regular driver is on leave or off sick, written into the plan.
- Invoicing: company plans can run on a corporate account with monthly invoicing.

What a monthly plan includes

Hours per day and days per week
A monthly plan cannot schedule more than the law lets one driver work. Article 17 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 fixes the normal week at 48 hours, and overtime stops at 2 hours a day. Ramadan takes 2 hours off each normal day, so expect school-run times to move that month.
- 5 days at 8 hours: 40 hours, inside one driver’s normal week.
- 6 days at 8 hours: 48 hours, the full normal week.
- 6 days at 10 hours: 2 hours of overtime every day, the daily maximum. Ask whether the plan runs one driver on overtime or adds a second driver for part of the week.
How to request a monthly plan
- Send the start date, days per week and hours per day.
- Give the area, for example Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai Hills or Al Barsha, and the regular stops.
- Say whether the plan is for a family or a company, and the car class you want.
- List which items you want inside the price: fuel, Salik, overtime, leave cover and a replacement car.

On an Assure plan the car and the driver are priced together, so the car class moves the quote most. A Lexus ES 300h, an S-Class and a 6-seat Kia Carnival each price differently. The other factors are days per week, hours per day, contract length, and whether fuel, Salik and a replacement car are included.
What is included in a monthly driver plan?
Each plan lists, in writing, how it handles fuel, Salik tolls, overtime past the agreed hours, cover when the regular driver is on leave or sick, and a replacement car during servicing. Compare quotes item by item. Two monthly prices only mean the same thing when they cover the same list, so ask each provider for the full breakdown.
Is a monthly driver the same as employing a family driver?
No. A personal or family driver you employ directly is a domestic worker under Federal Decree-Law No. 9 of 2022. You need a work permit and a contract on the ministry's template, and you owe 12 hours' rest a day, 1 paid day off a week and at least 30 days' paid leave a year. On a monthly plan, you contract a service instead.
How many hours a day does a monthly driver work?
That is set in your plan. UAE labour law puts normal working time at 8 hours a day or 48 a week, with overtime capped at 2 hours a day. A 6-day plan at 8 hours uses the full normal week of one driver. Plans with longer days rely on daily overtime or on a second driver for part of the week.
