How do you get from Dubai to Khor Fakkan?

Khor Fakkan belongs to Sharjah but sits on the Gulf of Oman. The road from Dubai goes through Sharjah, picks up the Sharjah to Khor Fakkan Road and climbs into the Hajar mountains before dropping to the coast. Allow about 1 hour 30 minutes in light traffic from central Dubai.

Because this road goes straight to Khor Fakkan, you skip Fujairah city entirely. That makes it the quickest way to the east coast if the town itself is your goal. For the Fujairah side of the coast, read the Dubai to Fujairah guide.

What is the Khor Fakkan road like, and how many tunnels does it have?

The road is a modern dual route cut through the mountains with a series of tunnels. We have not confirmed the exact length, tunnel count or opening year from an official source, so we do not print them here. If you need those figures, check Sharjah government or WAM announcements.

What matters on the day: the road is a fast, well-lit mountain drive. Cloud and rain can reduce visibility on the ridges, and your driver slows accordingly. If you plan to continue to Oman, the UAE Oman border crossings guide and the Hatta road and passport rules explain what to carry.

Is there public transport from Dubai to Khor Fakkan?

Public transport is limited. Check the Sharjah transport authority and RTA apps for any current service before you plan around one. Most visitors use a private car, which goes from the hotel to the beach without a change in Sharjah.

Khor Fakkan or Fujairah: which east-coast day suits you?

Pick Khor Fakkan for a short, quiet day with a corniche walk and a viewpoint. Pick Fujairah for beach resorts, Al Aqah and Snoopy Island. The two are roughly 40 to 45 minutes apart on the coast, so a driver can link them in one long day.

Questions and answers

How do you get from Dubai to Khor Fakkan?

Drive or book a private car. The route leaves Dubai for Sharjah, then joins the Sharjah to Khor Fakkan Road through the Hajar mountains and arrives on the east coast in about 1 hour 30 minutes in light traffic. There is no need to pass through Fujairah city.

How long is the Khor Fakkan road and how many tunnels does it have?

It runs through mountain tunnels between Sharjah and the east coast. We have not confirmed an official length or tunnel count to publish here. Check the Sharjah government or WAM announcements if you need the exact figures. For passengers, the tunnels shorten the trip and make it smoother than older mountain roads.

Is there public transport from Dubai to Khor Fakkan?

Public transport options are limited. Check the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority and RTA apps for any current intercity service before you plan around one. Most visitors take a private car or a taxi, because it avoids a change at Sharjah and runs on your schedule.

What is there to see in Khor Fakkan?

The main stops are Khor Fakkan Beach and corniche, Al Rafisah Dam, the amphitheatre and the Al Suhub Rest Area viewpoint above the town. Check opening times and access on the Sharjah tourism site before you travel, since some facilities close for maintenance.

Is Khor Fakkan better than Fujairah for a day trip?

Khor Fakkan is closer and quieter, with a corniche and a compact town. Fujairah suits those who want beach resorts, Al Aqah and Snoopy Island. A driver can combine both, as they are roughly 40 to 45 minutes apart on the coast.
