The short answer: which one to book

Both are first-class chauffeur sedans for up to 3 rear passengers, and both sit in Assure’s own fleet. The S-Class wins as a rear office, with its business console and folding tables. The 7 Series wins on rear entertainment, with its optional 31.3-inch Theatre Screen. Book the S-Class for working on the move and the 7 Series for long leisure drives.
| Mercedes-Benz S-Class | BMW 7 Series | |
|---|---|---|
| In Assure’s own fleet | Yes | Yes |
| Rear passengers | 3 | 3 |
| Bags with 3 aboard (Assure planning figure) | 2 large, 2 cabin | 2 large, 2 cabin |
| Boot, maker figure | Not given on Mercedes-Benz Dubai’s page | 540 L (735, 740), 525 L (750e hybrid) |
| Rear office (option) | Business console, 7-inch rear tablet, folding tables, 10 L fridge | 5.5-inch touchscreen in each rear door |
| Rear screen (option) | MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment touchscreens | 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen from the roof |
| Front seat moves for the rear passenger (option) | Chauffeur Package | Executive Lounge |
| Suspension | AIRMATIC air suspension, E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL option | Adaptive 2-axle air suspension |
| Electric version | EQS is a separate model | i7 is a 7 Series |
Most of the rear kit is optional on both cars, so equipment differs from car to car. Every row above comes from the makers’ UAE pages, listed under Sources. Both cars are listed with their seats and bags on our first class sedans page.
Rear-seat space: legroom, headroom and the executive seat

Neither Mercedes-Benz Dubai nor BMW Dubai prints rear legroom or headroom in millimetres. BMW gives the 7 Series a length of 5,395 mm on a 3,215 mm wheelbase. Mercedes-Benz Dubai says the S-Class has a long wheelbase but gives no figure.
What both makers do describe is the seat behind the front passenger, which is the seat to give your most senior guest.
- S-Class Chauffeur Package: the front passenger seat slides well forward and its head restraint folds down, so the person behind it sees the road ahead.
- 7 Series Executive Lounge: the front passenger seat slides forward, the seat behind it tilts back and an extending footrest comes out.
The S-Class First-Class Rear Compartment runs a full-length business console down the middle of the rear. If 3 adults will sit in the back, say so when you book, so the car sent has a usable middle seat.
Working on the move: tables, chargers and screens
The S-Class makes the stronger rear office. Its First-Class Rear Compartment adds temperature-controlled cup holders, wireless phone charging and a 7-inch MBUX tablet set into the console. Folding tables and a removable 10 L refrigerated compartment in the armrest complete it. Rear THERMOTRONIC climate control gives 4 separate zones, so each rear passenger sets a temperature.
The 7 Series puts a 5.5-inch touchscreen in each rear door. From there a rear passenger runs the climate, seats, sunshades, ambient lighting, the Theatre Screen and the automatic doors. The Theatre Screen has a camera built in.
If you plan a video call on the road, ask whether the car for your date has in-car Wi-Fi. For a meeting day between DIFC, Business Bay and Downtown, book by the hour through our chauffeur service, so the car waits near each office.
Entertainment: the BMW Theatre Screen or the Mercedes rear screens

The Theatre Screen is the single biggest difference between the two cars. It is a 31.3-inch 8K ultra-wide touchscreen that folds down from the headliner across the rear cabin. The S-Class answers with MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment: separate high-resolution touchscreens with internet access and the car’s media system.
The screen matters most on the longer runs out of Dubai. Downtown to central Abu Dhabi is about 139 km, roughly 1 h 30 without traffic. Downtown to Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah is about 154 km and 2 hours. Both drives are about the length of a film, which suits the 7 Series.
Ride comfort on Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 to Abu Dhabi
Both cars ride on air suspension. The S-Class uses AIRMATIC with automatic level control, and E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL is an option, a fully active system. The 7 Series uses adaptive 2-axle air suspension, which adjusts the dampers to the road surface.
The BMW also offers Integral Active Steering, which turns the rear wheels by up to 3.5 degrees. That helps in tight places, such as hotel porticoes on Palm Jumeirah and the DXB terminal car parks.
On the 139 km motorway run to Abu Dhabi by private car, both cars have the suspension hardware for it. The choice comes down to what the rear passenger wants to do on the way: work at a table, or watch the Theatre Screen.
Luggage: how many suitcases fit in each boot?
BMW quotes 540 L for the 735 and 740, and 525 L for the 750e plug-in hybrid. Mercedes-Benz Dubai does not print a boot figure for the S-Class. Assure plans both cars for 2 large suitcases and 2 cabin bags with 3 passengers aboard. That is an estimate, so send your exact bags and they are checked against the car.
Long-haul premium arrivals test this. Emirates gives Business Class 40 kg and First Class 50 kg, with no single bag over 32 kg. Three business travellers with 2 cases each have 6 large bags, which neither boot takes. Book a GMC Yukon or Mercedes-Benz V-Class, or a second car for the bags.
Which one for an airport pickup, a board meeting or a wedding guest?
| Trip | Book | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Arrival at Dubai International, 1 or 2 guests | Either | Your chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall with a name board. Downtown is about 18 km away. |
| A day of meetings | S-Class | Business console, folding tables and a 10 L fridge between meetings |
| A long-haul arrival heading to Abu Dhabi | 7 Series | The Executive Lounge seat and footrest for about 1 h 30 on the E11 |
| A wedding guest or VIP arrival | Either | Ask for a photo of the car for your date if the colour matters |
| A family of 4 | Neither | Both have 3 rear seats. Book a 6-seat SUV or van. |

Electric versions: Mercedes EQS and BMW i7
BMW sells the 7 Series in three ways in Dubai: petrol (735, 740), the 750e xDrive plug-in hybrid and the fully electric i7. The i7 comes as the 50, 60 and M70 xDrive. The 750e covers 70 to 82 km on electric power (WLTP). A return trip from DXB to Downtown, about 36 km, fits inside that.
Mercedes-Benz treats its electric flagship as a separate car, the EQS Sedan. The EQS is not on Assure’s list. If your travel policy asks for an electric car, ask whether the 7 Series for your date is an i7.
S-Class or 7 Series vs the Lexus ES 300h: when is business class enough?
The Lexus ES 300h is Assure’s business class sedan. Lexus gives it a 2.5 L petrol-electric hybrid at 214 hp, a 454 L boot and a rear sunshade. Assure plans it for 3 rear passengers with 2 large cases and 1 cabin bag.
Business class is enough for a solo traveller’s DXB run, a transfer between two meetings or a team moving across town. Step up to first class when the guest is senior, or the trip runs more than an hour. The rear options matter too, but only if the car for your date has them. The Lexus and its class are on our business sedans page.
What to ask before you confirm
Both cars carry most of their rear features as options. Before you confirm, ask:
- Does the car for my date have the Chauffeur Package or the Executive Lounge?
- Is the 7 Series a petrol, a 750e hybrid or an i7?
- Does the S-Class have the First-Class Rear Compartment, and does it still seat 3 in the rear?
- Which exterior colour is it? Wedding and event bookings often ask for black or white.
