Is any Schengen country easier from the UAE?
The easiest Schengen visa from Dubai does not exist on paper: no Schengen country is officially easier. The people searching for an easy embassy are really asking which consulate has appointments, and that changes by season and by provider. It is not a rule you can plan around.
The main-destination rule
Article 5 of the Visa Code decides where you apply. If your trip covers several countries, you apply to the one that is your main destination by length or purpose of stay. If no main destination can be determined, you apply to the Member State whose external border you intend to cross to enter Schengen.
In practice:
- Two weeks in Italy, three days in Switzerland: apply to Italy.
- Equal stays in two countries: use the country where you land.
- A short trip to one country: apply there.
What the fee covers
The EU visa fee is EUR 90 for adults and EUR 45 for children aged 6 to 11, and it is identical at every consulate. Provider centres add a service fee for handling your documents. Those fees differ by country and provider, so read the page of the centre that serves your consulate before you budget. Our Schengen visa page and the Spain page list the steps, and the whole visa section covers other destinations.
What actually varies between consulates
- Appointment availability in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which shifts around holidays and summer.
- Processing time, which each consulate states on its own notice.
- Refusal rates, which the European Commission publishes per consulate in its visa statistics. We have not quoted them here, because we could not confirm the latest year’s figures.
- Which application centre handles the country: VFS, BLS or TLScontact.
Do not choose by hearsay. Look up your consulate’s notice and its provider page.
Why applying to the “easy” country can backfire
Article 34 of the Visa Code says a visa shall be annulled where it becomes evident that the conditions for issuing it were not met. A border officer sees your bookings. If you hold a Spanish visa but spend three weeks in Austria, the mismatch is on record. The EU Entry/Exit System has been fully operational at Schengen external borders since 10 April 2026, per the German missions, so your entries are logged.

Insurance and paperwork
Travel insurance must cover EUR 30,000 and the whole stay, under Article 15. For the rest of the file, use our guide to visa documents for UAE residents. If you need to know where your passport goes without a visa, see visa-free countries for UAE residents, and the UAE visas explained hub links the rest. Travellers heading to London, New York or Toronto can read the UK, US and Canada authorisation guide.

Planning the route so it matches the application
Write the itinerary first, count the nights per country, then apply to the country with the most. Keep hotel bookings that match. When your flight is in the early hours, an airport transfer from your home in Dubai means the passport and printouts are the only things you handle at the terminal.
