Why do families choose Ras Al Khaimah for a wedding?
Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) is the northernmost of the main emirates, with beach resorts, a desert and the Jebel Jais mountain on one map. A wedding party can have the ceremony on a beach and a photo trip in the mountains without leaving the emirate.
The cost is transport. Guests arrive from two airports, the resorts sit in different areas, and Dubai is more than an hour away. This guide sets out the plan. For the wider picture, start with our wedding transport in Dubai guide.
Which RAK areas host wedding parties?
Visit Ras Al Khaimah lists the resort clusters guests stay in:
- Al Marjan Island: Mövenpick, Pullman, Rove and The Cove Rotana, among others.
- Al Hamra: The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Hamra Beach, and Sofitel Al Hamra Beach.
- Jebel Jais: the mountain, for photos and activities, not for a stay.
The tourism site does not say which of these venues host weddings. Ask each resort’s events team about ceremony spaces, vendor access and where wedding cars may stop. Then send the venue names to Assure so the pickup points are right.

DXB, Sharjah or RAK airport: where should guests land?
RAK International Airport (RKT) says it has more than 15 airlines and over 30 non-stop destinations, and runs 24 hours a day. Its published list includes Mumbai, Hyderabad, Cochin, Lahore, Cairo and Jeddah. If a guest’s airline is on it, RKT is the short option.

Other guests will land at Dubai International (DXB) or Sharjah (SHJ) and drive north. Plan the split by airline, then book pickups from each airport. Our Ras Al Khaimah airport guide has the arrival process, and wedding guest airport pickups explains how to time several flights.
| From RKT | Distance by road | Free-flow drive |
|---|---|---|
| Al Hamra | about 34 km | 33 minutes |
| Al Marjan Island | about 39 km | 37 minutes |
| Jebel Jais | about 54 km | 47 minutes |
| Dubai International (DXB) | about 97 km | 69 minutes |
These are rounded OSRM figures for the resort areas, not a specific hotel.
Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah: the E311, timing and traffic
From Dubai the usual route is the E311 Emirates Road north, then the E611 into RAK city. Expect about 100 to 130 km and roughly 1 h 15 min in light traffic, with 15 to 20 minutes more to Al Marjan Island or Al Hamra. Our Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah guide has the full table.
Three timing rules help:
- Leave Dubai by mid-morning for an afternoon ceremony, so a slow E311 does not eat the buffer.
- Avoid Thursday and Friday afternoons for the return, when traffic builds toward Dubai.
- Keep the airport run separate from the wedding run. A guest leaving for DXB needs about 3 h 30 min before an international departure.
A private intercity transfer suits the couple and family. Larger groups can ride together in a minibus or bus from Dubai hotels.
Guest coaches between RAK resorts
Al Hamra and Al Marjan Island are separate areas about 20 minutes apart by road. If the ceremony is in one and guests sleep in the other, run a coach on a fixed loop with set pickup times. Give the driver a printed list of hotels and a named contact.
For the couple, a wedding car takes the bride and groom from the preparation room to the ceremony. Larger vehicles are available through our partner network, subject to availability.
Jebel Jais and desert photo trips
Jebel Jais is about 54 km and 47 minutes from RKT, and the last section is a mountain road. Weather can close or restrict it, particularly in cloud, fog or rain. Check Visit Ras Al Khaimah and local police notices on the day.

Schedule the trip for the morning of the day before the wedding, not the day itself. A late return from the mountain can break the whole timetable.
Local trips inside RAK: the partner licence question
Assure is RTA licensed in Dubai. A trip from Dubai or the airports to a RAK resort starts in our licensed emirate. A trip that starts and ends inside Ras Al Khaimah, such as a resort-to-resort loop on the wedding day, may need an operator licensed there by RAKTA.
We confirm the arrangement for your route when you ask. Send the venues and dates through the contact page or WhatsApp.
