Yacht or dhow: the short answer
A dhow is a shared boat. You buy a place on a fixed sailing, eat the set dinner and see the skyline with other guests. A yacht is private. The boat, its captain and the hours are yours, and the route follows your plan and the sea conditions.
Assure books yachts through its partner network, subject to availability. We do not own the boats. What we add is the chauffeur car from your hotel to the berth and back.

Side by side
| Dhow dinner cruise | Private yacht charter | |
|---|---|---|
| Who is on board | Your group plus other guests | Your guests only |
| Schedule | Set sailing and boarding time | Your date and your hours |
| Food | Buffet dinner, menu in your quote | Only if written into the quote |
| Route | Fixed by the operator | Set by the captain from your hours and the sea |
| Price basis | Per person | For the boat |
| Best for | Couples and small groups, a first evening | Birthdays, proposals, corporate groups |
Which suits your group size?
Think about who you are bringing. A couple, or a family of four, will often be happy on a dhow, because the boat is designed for tables of shared guests.
A group that wants to talk, play its own music or hold a short speech is better served by a yacht. Corporate hosts with a client party usually choose the yacht for the same reason: nobody outside the guest list is on the deck.
Yacht sizes in the partner network vary. We give the guest limit on your quote. Send the number of adults and children and we match the boat, then match the car.
How many hours do you need?
A dhow cruise has a set length, stated on your booking, and it is built around dinner. A yacht charter is the opposite: you pick the hours, and the quote follows.
- Short charter: stays inside Dubai Marina and along the JBR shoreline, with the towers and the Ain Dubai wheel on Bluewaters Island in view.
- Longer charter: gives the captain time to reach the Palm Jumeirah crescent and Atlantis The Palm, and to carry on along the coast towards the Burj Al Arab.
The captain sets the route on the day. Wind and sea state decide how far the boat goes, so treat the route as a plan, not a promise.

What is included, and what is not?
On a dhow dinner cruise, a seat or table and dinner on board are included. Drinks and extras are only included if your quote lists them. Read the Dubai Marina dhow dinner cruise page for the car and boarding details.
On a yacht, the boat and captain are the core of the quote. Catering, drinks, decorations and water sports are added only if you ask for them. Ask for the full list before you pay, so nothing is assumed.
If you are choosing between dhow routes, Marina, Creek or Canal compares the three. For a daytime option, the public abra ride on Dubai Creek is a different, short crossing and not a dinner cruise.
What sets the price?
We do not publish yacht or dhow prices, because they change by boat, date and group. These are the factors that move a quote.
| Factor | How it changes the quote |
|---|---|
| Hours on the water | The main factor for a yacht |
| Guest count | Sets the size of yacht and car |
| Time of day | Daytime, sunset or evening slot |
| Catering, decorations, water sports | Added only if you ask for them |
| Car class | Sedan, SUV, van, minibus or stretch limousine |
| Car waiting or drop and return | A waiting car adds hours to the quote |
| Pickup area | Dubai, DXB arrivals or Sharjah |
A dhow is priced per person on a shared sailing, so the group size multiplies it. A yacht is priced for the boat, so adding guests changes the price less, until you pass the boat’s limit. That is why a larger group often finds the yacht closer in cost to a dhow than expected. Ask for both quotes and compare.
The drive to the berth

Most boats leave from Dubai Marina along Marina Walk, near Dubai Marina Mall. Some yachts use Dubai Harbour, the peninsula between Dubai Marina, JBR and Palm Jumeirah. Your quote names the berth or pontoon.
Free-flow drive times from OSRM on OpenStreetMap road data:
| From | To | Road distance | Without traffic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Downtown Dubai | Dubai Marina Mall | about 23 km | about 23 min |
| Business Bay | Dubai Marina Mall | about 22 km | about 22 min |
| Atlantis The Palm | Dubai Marina Mall | about 13 km | about 19 min |
| Dubai International (DXB) | Dubai Marina Mall | about 39 km | about 45 min |
Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) is slower at the weekday peaks, so your chauffeur works back from the boarding slot. Not sure where to stay for the water? Downtown Dubai against Dubai Marina helps, and the DXB to Dubai Marina transfer guide covers landing on the same day.

Which is better for a proposal, a birthday or a client party?
- Proposal: a yacht. You control the timing and nobody else is watching. The best places to propose in Dubai lists the water options.
- Birthday or hen party: a yacht for a larger group, with a stretch limousine to the berth, available through our partner network, subject to availability.
- Couple on a first evening: a dhow, for dinner and the lit towers.
- Client party: a yacht, with the car waiting for the whole charter.
During Ramadan, evening sailings can follow iftar timings. Check Ramadan in Dubai for visitors before you pick a date.
How to book with a car
Send a WhatsApp to +971 56 684 8148 with the date, the hours or the dhow evening you want, the number of guests and your pickup address. Mention the occasion. The quote comes back in the same chat with the boat, the berth, the car and what is included.
Prefer a flexible day around the water? Book a car with driver by the hour and add lunch or a beach club before boarding. Read the yacht rental page for how a charter with a car works, and see the wider list of day trips from Dubai and places to visit in Dubai for the rest of your stay.
