How far is Dubai Marina from DXB?
Dubai Marina sits on the Gulf coast, south-west of the city. From DXB it is a straight run down Sheikh Zayed Road (E11), about 32 to 36 km depending on the terminal and where in the Marina you stop.
| From | To | Distance | Drive time, no traffic |
|---|---|---|---|
| DXB Terminal 1 | Dubai Marina | about 35 km | 33 min |
| DXB Terminal 3 | Dubai Marina | about 32 km | 30 min |
| DXB Terminal 1 | JBR (The Walk) | about 36 km | 34 min |
| Al Maktoum (DWC) | Dubai Marina | about 30 km | 39 min |
The figures are free-flow times from a routing service, checked on 17 October 2026. They are not a promise. Add 15 to 25 minutes for the morning or evening peak.
Sheikh Zayed Road or Al Khail Road: which is faster?
For the Marina, Sheikh Zayed Road is the fastest route we found, and it is the one the routing service picks. Al Khail Road runs further inland. Drivers sometimes use it when Sheikh Zayed Road is stopped after an incident, but we have not timed it as a standard route.

Sheikh Zayed Road carries Salik toll gates. On the fastest routes, a trip from Terminal 1 passes Al Garhoud, Al Safa and Al Barsha. From Terminal 3 it passes Al Maktoum, Al Safa and Al Barsha. Our Salik guide lists every gate and what changes after 1 am, when all gates are free until 6 am.
Metro, taxi or private car: how do they compare?
| Option | What to expect | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Metro | Red Line from Airport Terminal 1 station to Dubai Marina or JBR stations, with a walk at each end | One bag, no hurry, a hotel near a station |
| Taxi | Rank at each terminal, metered, Salik added to the fare | Short notice, no booking |
| Private car | Driver meets you in arrivals, one vehicle, a fixed pick-up time | Families, heavy luggage, late arrivals |
The Red Line runs from Airport Terminal 1 through Business Bay and Dubai Mall to the Marina area, with stations at Dubai Marina, JBR and Jumeirah Lakes Towers. A Marina tower is not always beside a station, and the Metro does not run all night. Check the RTA planner for your day.
For taxi costs, see our Dubai airport taxi fares guide. For the difference between a chauffeur and a taxi, see chauffeur or taxi in Dubai.
Dropping off at Marina towers and JBR hotels
The Marina is a grid of towers around a canal, and the last 500 metres often take longer than the highway. Marina Walk, the canal-side promenade, is pedestrian, so cars stop at the tower’s own entrance or podium.

JBR is a different shape: a row of residential blocks and hotels along The Walk, with the beach behind. Cars drop off on the street side, and your driver carries bags to the lobby.
Tell us three things when you book: the building name, the tower or block number, and the entrance. We send them to your driver and confirm the drop-off on WhatsApp before you land.
Flying into DWC instead?
If you land at Al Maktoum, the Marina is the closer drive in distance: about 30 km, 39 minutes without traffic. The route joins Sheikh Zayed Road from the south and passes one Salik gate, at Jebel Ali. Our Al Maktoum airport guide covers the terminal and pick-up.
Coming off a cruise instead? The Dubai Harbour cruise terminal is only about 3 km from the Marina.
Where next
If your hotel is in Downtown, read DXB to Downtown Dubai. Staying on the crescent? See DXB to Palm Jumeirah. Choosing between the two districts is covered in Downtown Dubai or Dubai Marina.
Our airport transfers from DXB are RTA licensed and run 24/7. For a car with a driver for the rest of your stay, see our chauffeur service or the limousine service. Everything starts with the UAE airports guide.
