Formula 1 ends its 2026 season on Yas Island. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is three days of track action, with concerts on the island in past years. Fans who base themselves in Dubai are about an hour away on the E11. This guide covers the dates, tickets, where to stay and how to plan the drive.
When is the 2026 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix?
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Dates | Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December 2026 |
| Round | 23 of 23, the season finale |
| Venue | Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi |
| Track | 5.281 km a lap, 58 laps, 306.188 km race distance |
| Tickets | Digital only, in the Abu Dhabi GP app |
| Last checked | 17 October 2026, on formula1.com and yasmarinacircuit.com |

The dates come from the Formula 1 calendar. Check them again in November, before you fix daily pickups.
Race weekend schedule: practice, qualifying, the race and the concerts
| Day | Date | On track |
|---|---|---|
| Friday | 4 December | Practice 1 and Practice 2 |
| Saturday | 5 December | Practice 3 and Qualifying |
| Sunday | 6 December | The race, 58 laps |
The Formula 1 race page shows each session’s start time, with a switch between “My time” and “Track time”. Set it to track time before you plan pickups, so the times match the clocks in Abu Dhabi.

After the track action, the island has hosted concerts in past years. For 2025 the circuit’s FAQ listed one concert a night at Etihad Park, from Thursday to Sunday. Entry was general admission on a first-come basis with a wristband, with a paid Golden Circle upgrade. The 2026 line-up was not on the official pages when we checked on 17 October 2026.
Tickets and grandstands
The circuit sells tickets through five channels:
- abudhabigp.com
- Ticketmaster UAE
- authorised on-sellers listed by the circuit
- by phone
- outlets in Yas Mall and Yas Central
Tickets are digital only. They load in the Abu Dhabi GP app, which emails you when they go live. Your entrance gate is printed on the ticket, as Formula 1 explained in its 2024 guide, and the app has a circuit map.

The grandstands are spread around the 5.281 km lap. In 2024, the circuit shuttles stopped at the Main, North, West, South and Marina grandstands. Find your stand on the app’s circuit map before you agree a drop-off point with your driver.
Stay on Yas Island, in Abu Dhabi or in Dubai?
| Where you stay | Distance to the circuit | How the day works |
|---|---|---|
| Yas Island hotel | On the island | Walk or take a circuit shuttle |
| Central Abu Dhabi | About 31 km, 25 minutes without traffic | Bus 190 from Abu Dhabi Bus Station, a taxi or a car |
| Dubai Marina | About 94 km, 1 hour without traffic | A daily return on the E11 |
| Downtown Dubai | About 114 km, 1 hour 15 minutes without traffic | A daily return on the E11 |
Yas Island is the easy option for all three days. Formula 1’s 2024 guide said walking can be the better choice from island hotels, with care in the midday heat.
Dubai suits fans who are pairing the race with a Dubai holiday. The cost is the road: two runs of about 1 hour each from Dubai Marina, more on race day. Our Dubai to Abu Dhabi transfer runs that road door to door.
Flying straight into the capital? Zayed International is about 19 km from the circuit, and our Zayed International transfers page explains how arrivals work there. A trip that begins in the capital, from the airport or a Yas Island hotel, falls outside our Dubai RTA licence, so we arrange it on request with an Abu Dhabi licensed partner. Our chauffeur service in Abu Dhabi covers what we can arrange in the capital.
Staying in Dubai for race weekend: drive times and when to leave
The table uses OSRM road data for an empty road, pulled on 17 October 2026.
| From | Road distance | Without traffic |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai Marina | about 94 km | about 1 hour |
| Palm Jumeirah | about 100 km | about 1 hour 5 minutes |
| Downtown Dubai | about 114 km | about 1 hour 15 minutes |
| Dubai International (DXB) | about 130 km | about 1 hour 35 minutes |
| Al Maktoum International (DWC) | about 93 km | about 1 hour 10 minutes |
Race days are slower than these figures. Formula 1 warned in 2024 of congestion as fans leave after each day’s action, including on public transport. We suggest doubling the free-flow time on the way in. From Dubai Marina, that means leaving about 2 hours before the session you most want to see.
Tolls change across the weekend:
- Every day: you pay AED 4 at Ghantoot each time you pass, whatever the hour (in force since 4 May 2026).
- Friday and Saturday: Abu Dhabi’s other Darb gates charge from 7am to 9am and 3pm to 7pm.
- Race Sunday: those peak-hour gates are free, because Sundays are toll-free.
The way home is the slow part. Agree the pickup point and a time window with your driver before you go through the gate.
Gates and parking in brief
Your gate is on your ticket. In 2024, taxis could drop fans very close to the entrance gates, with collection points near Ferrari World and Yas Mall after the sessions. No 2026 race-weekend parking plan was on the official sites when we checked, so look in the Abu Dhabi GP app before you drive. Our Grand Prix chauffeur page covers the drop-off, the shuttles and booking a car for one day or all three.
Adding a Yas Island day out
The circuit’s ticket inclusions page lists one day at teamLab Phenomena or one Yas Island theme park. Holders of 4-day tickets also get Louvre Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Watan, Zayed National Museum and the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi. Single-day tickets are excluded, and the page still carries older banners, so check your own ticket.
Monday 7 December, the day after the race, leaves time for a theme park without a session to rush back for. A day at the Yas Island theme parks with a driver collects you from your Dubai hotel and waits outside.
Yas Island has other venues worth a look that week. Our guide to Etihad Arena on Yas Bay covers shows at the island’s indoor arena. Business visitors heading into the city can read our guide to ADNEC parking and drop-off.
Race weekend checklist
- Tickets loaded in the Abu Dhabi GP app, one account per ticket holder.
- The gate on each ticket, and the grandstand on the circuit map.
- Session times taken from the Formula 1 page in track time.
- Sunscreen, a hat and water for the daytime sessions.
- A WhatsApp number for your driver, and the agreed pickup point.
- Your hotel address and each day’s pickup time, sent to the driver the night before.
- A plan for each night: a concert, dinner on the island or the drive back to Dubai.
For a group, a Mercedes-Benz V-Class seats 6 and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter seats 13 or 19, both from the Assure fleet. For a first-class arrival, our limousine service has the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and a Rolls-Royce is available through our partner network, subject to availability.
The week before, Dubai hosts the Emirates Dubai 7s: see getting to The Sevens Stadium. The UAE events calendar lists the rest of the season, and the events chauffeur service covers each one.
