Where does the baraat happen at a Dubai wedding?
In Dubai the baraat happens inside the venue. The groom’s party forms at a spot the hotel names, often a forecourt, a garden or the ballroom’s pre-function area, and moves to the entrance on foot or on the horse. The cars that brought the family leave before the dhol starts.

The reason is the law. The Ministry of Interior traffic schedule fines the use of vehicles in marches without permission AED 500, with 4 black points and 15 days’ impound for a light vehicle. A baraat that spills out of the gate onto the road is exactly that. Our wedding convoy rules guide explains what counts as a march and why a chauffeur company cannot grant permission.
Ask the venue three things in writing:
- Where may the baraat form, and where is the horse or car kept until then?
- Which hours and what volume does the venue allow for dhol and music?
- Where do guest coaches and family cars wait while the baraat is on?
Whatever the answers, the wedding transport hub shows how the couple’s car, family cars and shuttles fit together.
Car, vintage car or horse: what do venues allow?
| Arrival | What to confirm | What Assure supplies |
|---|---|---|
| Luxury car | The drop-off point at the entrance and a place to park afterwards | A chauffeur-driven Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7 Series; a Rolls-Royce through our partner network, subject to availability |
| Vintage car | That the venue allows a classic car in its forecourt | A vintage car through our partner network, subject to availability, with a chauffeur |
| Horse | The venue’s written permission, the horse’s waiting area and the hours | Nothing: the horse and handler come from your decorator or planner |
We could not confirm a public permit rule for horses at events. Treat it as the venue’s decision and ask for the answer in writing. For the groom’s car, browse wedding car hire or the wider limousine service.
A common plan has the groom on the horse for the last 100 metres and a luxury car waiting out of sight for the ride to the hotel afterwards. Book that car for the full evening, not as a single transfer.
Dhol, music and timing the groom’s arrival
Dhol players walk. They do not ride on the roof or the bonnet. The traffic schedule fines disturbing use of the horn or the car radio AED 400 with 4 black points, and the UAE government says horns within city limits are for emergencies only. In practice the chauffeur keeps the windows up and the music off until the car is on venue grounds.
Time the arrival from the guests, not the groom. Ask the venue when the doors open, how long the milni and entry take, and when the ceremony starts. Then work back:
- The car leaves the groom’s hotel with 15 to 20 minutes of margin on the drive.
- The family cars leave 10 minutes before the groom’s car, so the family is at the forecourt first.
- The baraat forms at the agreed spot 10 minutes before the entry.
Evening traffic on the Palm Jumeirah crescent or Sheikh Zayed Road is slower than the free-flow figure. For example, DXB to Dubai Marina is about 37 km and 42 minutes in free flow (OSRM, OpenStreetMap), so allow longer at 6 pm.
The vidaai car: decoration and the last drive
The vidaai car leaves after the ceremony, often late at night, with the couple and sometimes a sibling. Plan three things: the car, the decoration and the destination.
- Car: the same chauffeur who brought the groom is the easiest choice, because they know the venue’s exit. Specify a car with a wide rear door and a chauffeur who opens it, for the bride’s lehenga.
- Decoration: fresh marigold or rose garlands on the bonnet, grille and door handles. Keep the windscreen, side windows and number plate clear. The schedule fines an unclear number plate AED 400 and writing or stickers on a vehicle without permission AED 500.
- Destination: most couples go to a hotel suite, not a house. Give the chauffeur the address and the room-service plan.

Mehndi, sangeet, haldi and the wedding: moving guests over three days
Indian weddings in Dubai usually run over 2 or 3 days at one or two venues. Book each day as its own transport job, because the guests, the hours and the pickup points change.

| Event | Typical movement | Vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| Haldi and mehndi | Family from the hotel to a villa, garden or hotel suite, in the afternoon | Vans and a Sprinter |
| Sangeet | All hotel guests to the venue in the evening, back after midnight | Coaches on a loop |
| Wedding day | Groom’s family cars, the baraat arrival, then guests | Cars, coaches |
| Vidaai | Couple’s car; family cars follow | Chauffeur car |
The sangeet is the busiest return. Guests leave when they like, so run a loop, not one departure. The wedding guest shuttle guide shows how to size one. For larger vehicles, see bus rental and minibus rental.
Airport pickups for guests flying in from India
Guests from India land at DXB Terminal 1, 2 or 3, or at Sharjah, Al Maktoum (DWC) or Abu Dhabi. Dubai Airports lists Terminal 3 for Emirates and select flydubai, United and Air Canada flights, and the D Gates at Terminal 1 for most other airlines. We could not confirm which terminal each Indian airline uses today, so read the terminal from the e-ticket.

At every DXB terminal, Dubai Airports has no pick-up area at arrivals. Inside the arrivals hall the chauffeur waits with a name board, then walks guests out to the car park. The airport pickups for wedding guests guide covers the flight sheet, and our airport transfers page lists every airport Assure serves.
Visa rules depend on the passport. The UAE government says some nationalities get a visa on arrival, the list changes and passports need 6 months’ validity. Read the UAE visa on arrival guide, then confirm with the airline.
A sample transport plan for a 300-guest wedding
This is a worked example, not a quote. Assume 300 guests: 30 live in Dubai and drive themselves, and 270 stay in three hotels, with the venue 25 minutes from each.
| Hotel block | Guests | Vehicles for the sangeet run | Seats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hotel A | 120 | 2 coaches of 50 and a Toyota Coaster of 22 | 122 |
| Hotel B | 90 | 1 coach of 50, 1 coach of 35 and a 13-seat Sprinter | 98 |
| Hotel C | 60 | 1 coach of 50 and a 13-seat Sprinter | 63 |
That is 6 large vehicles and 3 Sprinters. The coaches and the Coaster are available through our partner network, subject to availability, and the 13-seat Sprinter is Assure’s own. Add:
- Groom’s side: a luxury car for the groom, 2 more cars for parents, and a V-Class (6 seats) for the sisters.
- Vidaai: one decorated chauffeur car.
- Airport runs: vans for each arrival cluster, per the flight sheet.
Send the hotel names, headcounts and venue to Assure on WhatsApp and the plan comes back priced per day. Destination weddings in the UAE often run over more than one emirate, and the Ras Al Khaimah wedding transport guide covers a venue north of Dubai. Compare with the Pakistani wedding transport guide if your family’s events fall on separate days.
