A concert day has a fixed end point, the show, and every other time is worked back from it. For artists and crew, ground transport is the thread that ties the flight, the hotel, the soundcheck and the stage together. This guide covers the venues, the run sheet and the distances in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Which venues do artists play in Dubai and Abu Dhabi?
Four venues carry most large shows. Capacities come from the venues’ own pages or, where noted, from press coverage.
| Venue | City | Type | Capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coca-Cola Arena | Dubai, City Walk | Indoor arena | 17,000 |
| Etihad Arena | Abu Dhabi, Yas Bay | Indoor arena | 18,000 |
| Etihad Live (formerly Etihad Park) | Abu Dhabi, Yas Island | Open-air | 42,000, per The National |
| Zayed Sports City Stadium | Abu Dhabi | Stadium | 40,000 seated, up to 60,000 standing |
Coca-Cola Arena sits in City Walk and is reached from Financial Centre Road and Sheikh Zayed Road. Etihad Arena stands on the Yas Bay waterfront. Etihad Live is the new name for Etihad Park, announced in June 2026, and the owner plans an upgrade in 2027. Zayed Sports City lists concerts, including Coldplay’s 2025 run, among the events its stadium has hosted.
Check the venue name in the contract and the map pin. Two names for one site cause wrong turns. Our Coca-Cola Arena chauffeur page and the Etihad Arena parking guide cover the public side of each venue.

How does a show day run, from airport to stage?
A show day for an artist usually runs in this order. The venue and promoter set the times; the transport plan follows them.
- Arrival. A driver meets the party at the airport with a flight-tracked pickup. See airport transfers for how the meeting works.
- Hotel. Check-in, rest and a first look at the day sheet.
- Load-in and soundcheck. Crew arrive first, with kit. The artist follows in the afternoon.
- Hold. A quiet window before the show, often at the hotel or in a green room.
- Show. The car waits at an agreed point, away from the public queue.
- Return. Straight back to the hotel, or on to the airport for a late departure.
The crew’s day starts hours earlier than the artist’s. Put them on separate lines of the run sheet, with their own vehicles and pickup times.
What do the venues publish about drop-off and backstage access?
Coca-Cola Arena’s public page describes a drop-off zone directly in front of the main entrances A, B and C. It says there is no valet service. Paid parking sits in bays P2 and P4, with more public and RTA parking a 4 to 6 minute walk away, and the Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa Metro station is a few minutes’ walk.
That is guest information. Neither Coca-Cola Arena’s page nor Etihad Arena’s says where artist vehicles stop or which gate crew use. Etihad Arena’s page gives a capacity of 18,000 and says the venue is 7 minutes from the airport, with no loading details.
So treat backstage access as a promoter question. Four things to ask for:
- The artist entrance and the gate for crew vans.
- Vehicle passes and driver passes, with the names they need.
- The marshal’s contact on the night.
- The time the loading area opens and closes.
We cannot confirm any of this from public sources, and a driver should arrive with the pass already in hand.

How far is it between the airports, hotels and venues?
Distances come from OSRM road data, timed for an empty road on 25 October 2026. Add time for traffic, for a convoy and for venue security.
| Route | Road distance | Without traffic |
|---|---|---|
| DXB to Coca-Cola Arena | about 17 km | about 19 minutes |
| Coca-Cola Arena to Etihad Arena | about 111 km | about 72 minutes |
| Zayed International Airport (AUH) to Etihad Arena | about 18 km | about 23 minutes |
| AUH to Zayed Sports City Stadium | about 29 km | about 28 minutes |
Etihad Arena states its own figure of 7 minutes from the airport, which is shorter than the road routing. Plan on the longer number. For a party that plays both cities, the Dubai to Abu Dhabi transfer runs on the same E11 road.
Where should the party stay for an Abu Dhabi show?
Both choices work, and each has a cost. Staying in Dubai gives familiar hotels and shorter morning runs, but the road to Yas Island takes more than an hour and a late show means a long return. Staying near Yas Island puts the venue minutes away, which helps if the artist has an early flight or a curfew.
Decide with the tour manager. If crew load in at 10:00 and the artist arrives at 17:00, the crew need a hotel that is close enough to start early, and the artist may be better placed in the city. The two groups can stay in different places as long as the run sheet is clear.
What vehicles suit artists, crew and cases?
Match the vehicle to the group and then check the bags. These figures come from Assure’s fleet data.
| Group | Vehicle | Seats | Large bags |
|---|---|---|---|
| Artist, one or two guests | Mercedes-Benz S-Class | 3 | 2 |
| Artist’s team of up to 6 | Mercedes-Benz V-Class | 6 | 4 |
| Band or crew of 8 to 13 | Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, 13 seats | 13 | 6 |
| Larger crew | Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, 19 seats | 19 | 3 |
| Full touring party | 35 or 50-seat coach | 35 or 50 | 15 or 35 |
Coaches come through our partner network, subject to availability. Instruments and flight cases usually travel on the tour’s own truck, so the vans carry people and personal luggage. If a cargo vehicle is needed, say so in the manifest.
For group sizing across several vehicles, the guides on how many vehicles a group event needs and what size bus to choose give the method.
What should the day sheet contain?
The day sheet is the transport plan on one page. A driver should be able to run the day from it alone. It needs:
- Every pickup time, with the place, the passenger names and a phone number.
- The flight number and terminal for each arrival and departure.
- The venue gate or drop-off point, and who holds the vehicle pass.
- A named decision-maker for changes, who answers the phone during the show.
- The latest time the return car may leave, and where it waits until then.
Send a revised sheet each time anything moves. A late soundcheck changes the afternoon pickups, and the driver should hear it from the sheet, not from a passenger.
What does a rehearsal or a multi-day run need?
A rehearsal day is a mini-show day, with a fixed pickup, a fixed venue and a variable end time. Multi-day runs add repetition: the same hotel, the same route and the same people, so a driver who has done the route can do it faster.
For a run of several days, ask the contract to name one coordinator on each side, and keep the day sheets in the same format. Our event day chauffeur checklist lists the points to confirm the evening before, and the UAE events calendar shows when the city is busy.
Teams that book transport for many shows a year can run it as an account. The production and talent transport page explains how Assure handles that work, and corporate accounts explain the contract side. If your tour also has a camera crew, read the guide to film shoot transport.
