How far is everything from Dubai?

Every figure below is a road distance from Downtown Dubai, measured on 17 October 2026 with OSRM on OpenStreetMap data. Times are free flow: no traffic, no border queues, no stops. Round the result up for real life. Dubai city traffic alone can add 30 minutes or more at rush hour.

From Dubai to the UAE border posts

These are the UAE posts for people crossing by road.

Border post Leads to Road distance Drive time without traffic
Hatta Muscat and Sohar 114 km 1 h 27 min
Khatm Al Malaha Sohar and Muscat, coast road 139 km 1 h 46 min
Mezyad Nizwa and Salalah 161 km not measured here
Dibba Southern Musandam 147 km 1 h 52 min
Al Dara Khasab 150 km 1 h 49 min
Al Ghuwaifat Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain 453 km 3 h 58 min

The German Embassy in the UAE reported Hatta, Mezyad, Khatmat Malaha and Al Batha open around the clock on 2 March 2026. Read the guide to every UAE and Oman crossing before choosing one, and the Ghuwaifat and Batha guide for the western post.

From Dubai to Oman

| Destination | Via | Road distance | Drive time without traffic |

Muscat is the question most people ask. On our figures, Dubai to Muscat is 409 km and about 4 h 43 min through Hatta, before the two border posts. See the Dubai to Muscat transfer, the Dubai to Sohar transfer, the Dubai to Khasab and Musandam transfer and the whole Oman page. The Dubai to Muscat by road guide and the Dubai to Salalah by road guide cover the longer drives.

From Dubai to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain

All three go west on the E11 to Al Ghuwaifat, then through Saudi Arabia.

Destination Road distance Drive time without traffic Borders
Doha, Qatar 695 km 6 h 38 min Al Ghuwaifat, Al Batha, Salwa, Abu Samra
Dammam, Saudi Arabia 801 km 7 h 53 min Al Ghuwaifat, Al Batha
Manama, Bahrain 837 km 8 h 21 min Al Ghuwaifat, Al Batha, King Fahd Causeway
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia 1,055 km 10 h 31 min Al Ghuwaifat, Al Batha

Al Khobar is about 3 km farther than Dammam. The drive times leave out border queues, which grow on holiday weekends. Our border queues holiday calendar lists the dates.

Route pages: Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, Dammam and Al Khobar, Qatar, Doha, Bahrain and Manama. The Bahrain road ends on the King Fahd Causeway, and the Doha road goes through the Salwa and Abu Samra crossing.

What these figures leave out

  • Traffic. Sheikh Zayed Road, Emirates Road and the E11 near Abu Dhabi slow at rush hour. Dubai to Sharjah can take far longer than the table time on a weekday morning.
  • Border time. Not included for any crossing.
  • Fuel and rest stops. Add 20 to 30 minutes for each on a long drive.
  • Your exact pickup. Dubai Marina is farther from Hatta, 132 km against 114 km from Downtown, for example.

For cost, not distance, read what a cross-border chauffeur trip costs. Road travel from Dubai is the starting point for planning any of these journeys, and the cross-border transfers hub lists the routes we drive.

Questions and answers

How far is Dubai from Muscat by road?

About 409 km from Downtown Dubai to central Muscat, roughly 4 h 43 min of driving without traffic, through the Hatta and Al Wajajah border. Via Khatmat Malaha on the east coast it is about 427 km. Border time comes on top, and varies. Measured with OSRM on OpenStreetMap data on 17 October 2026.

How far is Dubai from Doha by road?

About 695 km, or 6 h 38 min at the wheel without traffic. There is no direct road, since the UAE and Qatar do not touch. You drive through Saudi Arabia, crossing Al Ghuwaifat, Al Batha, Salwa and Abu Samra. Four border posts add time that the drive figure leaves out.

How far is Dubai from Riyadh by road?

About 1,055 km, 10 h 31 min of driving without traffic, from Downtown Dubai to central Riyadh. The road leaves the UAE at Al Ghuwaifat and enters Saudi Arabia at Al Batha. With border time, fuel and rest, plan a full day with two drivers or two days with an overnight stop.

How far is Dubai from Bahrain by road?

About 837 km to central Manama, 8 h 21 min of driving without traffic. The route runs through Saudi Arabia and over the King Fahd Causeway, with Passport Island in the middle of it. Four border steps are involved: the UAE exit, Saudi entry, Saudi exit at the causeway and Bahrain entry.

Which emirate is nearest to Dubai?

Sharjah. Its city centre is about 26 km from Downtown Dubai and 27 minutes without traffic, though Sharjah traffic can double it. Ajman is about 45 km, Umm Al Quwain 65 km, Ras Al Khaimah 108 km, Fujairah 120 km and Abu Dhabi 139 km. All are measured on OSRM road data.

How far is Dubai from Abu Dhabi airport?

Zayed International (AUH) is about 115 km from Downtown Dubai, 1 h 17 min without traffic. Dubai International (DXB) is 17 km from Downtown Dubai. Al Maktoum International (DWC) is 48 km. Sharjah International (SHJ) is 40 km. Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah airports are 112 km and 120 km.

How accurate are these distances?

They are road distances from a mapping engine, to the nearest kilometre, between the centre of each city and a point in Downtown Dubai. Your pickup and drop-off will differ by a few kilometres. Drive times are free flow, with no traffic, border queues or stops. Rush hour and holidays add time, so use the table to plan, not to schedule.
