What do law firms use a chauffeur for in the UAE?

Most legal work here is spread across three cities. A hearing may be in the DIFC, a witness meeting in Deira and a client dinner in Abu Dhabi. These are the uses we plan for:

  • Hearing days. A car and the same chauffeur from the hotel or office to the court, waiting through the session.
  • Visiting counsel. A pickup at DXB or Zayed International, with the car staying on for the length of the trip.
  • DIFC to ADGM days. A morning hearing in Dubai and an afternoon meeting in Abu Dhabi, driven as one booking.
  • Witness and expert transport. A separate car, so the legal team and the witness do not share a journey.
  • Client meetings and closing dinners. Cars on standby, with the end time left open.

For the working day itself, read our guide to the courts of Dubai and Abu Dhabi for visiting lawyers. Arbitration teams can use the arbitration hearing logistics checklist.

Where do the courts and arbitration centres sit?

These are the venues law firms book to. Addresses come from each institution’s own site.

  • DIFC Courts: Level 3, Precinct Building 5 (South), The Gate District, DIFC, Dubai.
  • Dubai Courts: the head office is in Bur Dubai, Umm Hurair 2, on Riyadh Street next to Al Maktoum Bridge.
  • Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC): headquarters at the Dubai Chambers Building, Level 14, Baniyas Road, Deira. Its DIFC branch is at Al Fattan Currency House, Tower 2, Level 8.
  • ADGM Courts: Al Maqam Tower, ADGM Square, Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi.
  • Abu Dhabi Judicial Department: headquarters in Al Rawda, on Arabian Gulf Street, opposite Zayed Sports City.
  • Ras Al Khaimah Courts: in Ras Al Khaimah city, shown on the court’s own location map.

Check the hall and the entrance with the registry before the day. Your chauffeur needs the building name and the gate for the drop-off, which the registry can confirm.

How long does it take between the courts, DXB and AUH?

These are road distances and free-flow times from OSRM, checked on 2026-10-25. They assume no traffic.

From To Distance Time
DXB Terminal 3 DIFC Courts about 20 km about 33 minutes
DXB Terminal 3 Dubai Courts about 16 km about 32 minutes
DXB Terminal 3 DIAC, Deira about 16 km about 32 minutes
DIFC Courts Dubai Courts about 7 km about 9 minutes
DIFC Courts DIAC, Deira about 9 km about 12 minutes
DIFC Courts ADGM Courts, Al Maryah Island about 141 km about 90 minutes
DIFC Courts Abu Dhabi Judicial Department about 134 km about 86 minutes
DIFC Courts RAK Courts about 109 km about 79 minutes
DXB Terminal 3 ADGM Courts about 159 km about 117 minutes
Zayed International (AUH) ADGM Courts about 36 km about 29 minutes
Zayed International (AUH) Abu Dhabi Judicial Department about 23 km about 18 minutes
ADGM Courts Abu Dhabi Judicial Department about 15 km about 16 minutes
RAK International (RKT) RAK Courts about 22 km about 20 minutes

Real journeys are slower at the start and end of the working day. The Sheikh Zayed Road approaches to the DIFC and the Dubai to Abu Dhabi corridor both slow down. That is why we plan hearing days with a buffer, set out below.

Can a chauffeur take us from DIFC to ADGM Courts for a hearing?

Yes. The drive from DIFC to Al Maryah Island is about 141 km, around 90 minutes without traffic. A full day with one chauffeur covers the outward drive, the wait and the return.

  1. Send the hearing time and the courtroom building. Your booker gives us the start time, not just the address.
  2. We work back from the start. We add a buffer to the drive, plus time for security and finding the hall.
  3. The chauffeur arrives early and waits. The car stays near the entrance named in the plan.
  4. You message when the session ends. The chauffeur brings the car round, and the return leg begins.

The detail of the hand-over between the two financial centres is in our guide to a DIFC to ADGM meeting day by car. Day bookings are covered on the full day chauffeur page.

How do hearing-day timings work with a buffer?

Courts start on time, and a late arrival costs the client. We therefore plan back from the hearing start, not forward from your office.

  • Buffer on the drive. We add time on top of the OSRM figure, based on the hour, the road and the day of the week.
  • Time at the venue. Security and reaching the hall can take longer than expected on a first visit.
  • Early arrival. The chauffeur is at the pickup before the booked time, not at it.
  • Staying with the car. For longer sessions, the chauffeur waits, so the return does not depend on finding a new car.

Waiting time is a price factor in the proposal, so agree it before the first hearing day.

How does the invoice carry the matter or client reference?

When a booker sends a trip, they add the matter or client reference. It goes onto that trip’s line on the monthly invoice. Each line shows the date, the passenger, the route or hours and the reference.

Your finance team can then match the line to the matter and recharge it to the client as a disbursement. If your billing system needs a particular format, say so when you set up the account. The contract model is set out on the chauffeur contracts page, and the general account process is on the corporate chauffeur accounts page.

How is discretion handled for sensitive matters?

Discretion is a matter of how the trip is run. These are the steps we apply.

  • Name boards. The board at arrivals can show a first name or a code instead of a firm or client name. Agree the wording in advance.
  • In the car. The chauffeur does not discuss passengers, calls or papers, and does not repeat what he hears.
  • Papers. Bundles and laptops stay with the passenger. The chauffeur does not open or move them.
  • Records. Booking messages are limited to the details needed for the trip. Keep the matter name out of them and use the reference.
  • NDA. A non-disclosure agreement is available on request and is agreed in the contract.

For wider expectations on dress, greeting and timing, see business etiquette in Dubai.

Which cars suit partners, counsel and witnesses?

Passenger Car Seats
Senior partner, visiting leading counsel Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7 Series 3
Counsel and associates on hearing days Lexus ES 300h 3
Two or three people with files and bags GMC Yukon 6
A legal team of four to six Mercedes V-Class 6

The cars above are from the Assure fleet. See the first class sedans and business sedans. The VIP and executive chauffeur page sets out the standard of service.

What about Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah?

Assure serves Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah with its own cars and with partner cars. Your car comes from the Assure fleet or our partner network, confirmed when you book. Partner cars are available through our partner network, subject to availability.

You will see the car and the chauffeur’s name in the booking confirmation. For the setup in each emirate, see our Abu Dhabi chauffeur service and Ras Al Khaimah chauffeur service pages. The Dubai to Abu Dhabi transfer page covers the road itself.

How are visiting counsel met at DXB or AUH?

The chauffeur waits in arrivals with your name board. For discreet arrivals, the board carries a first name or a code. Send the flight number, and the chauffeur follows the real landing time.

Terminal details for Dubai International and Zayed International are on their own pages. The same car can carry on to the hotel, the DIFC or the court, so counsel does not change vehicles after a long flight.

How do you set up a law-firm account?

  1. Send the request. Include your firm, billing entity, the cities, trips per month and the start date.
  2. Name your bookers. Executive assistants, the office manager, or the travel desk.
  3. Tell us the reference format. The matter or client number to appear on each invoice line.
  4. Receive the proposal. Car classes, the rate basis, the invoice layout and any NDA terms.
  5. Book on WhatsApp or by phone. The desk answers 24/7 on +971 55 750 8797.

Assure has been running chauffeur-driven cars in Dubai for more than 10 years. Our office is in the Al Nisf Building on Airport Road, Al Garhoud, about 3 km from DXB Terminal 3. Ask for these items in the proposal: invoice layout, name board wording and the NDA, if your firm requires one.

Banks and financial services teams use the same account model, set out on our banks and financial services page. For general questions, use the contact page.

Questions and answers

Can the invoice show our matter number?

Yes. Give the matter or client reference when you book, and it appears on that trip's invoice line next to the date, the passenger and the route. Your finance team can then recharge the cost to the client as a disbursement. Tell us the reference format your billing system uses when you set up the account.

Can the chauffeur take us from DIFC to ADGM Courts for a hearing?

Yes. The drive from DIFC to Al Maryah Island is about 141 km, around 90 minutes without traffic. We plan a buffer on top of that, so you arrive before the session. A full day with the same chauffeur lets the car wait through the hearing and bring you back to Dubai afterwards.

Do your chauffeurs sign NDAs?

A non-disclosure agreement is available on request and is agreed in the contract, not promised on this page. Ask for it in your proposal request. Whatever the paperwork says, the chauffeur's instruction is the same: do not discuss passengers, calls or papers in the car, and do not repeat what you hear.

How long is the drive from Dubai to ADGM Courts?

From Dubai International (DXB) Terminal 3 to ADGM Courts on Al Maryah Island it is about 159 km, around 117 minutes without traffic. From DIFC it is about 142 km and 89 minutes. Rush hour and the Sheikh Zayed Road approaches add time, so we plan with a buffer rather than the free-flow figure.

Can you carry a witness or an expert separately from counsel?

Yes. Book a second car under the same matter reference, with its own pickup and its own chauffeur. Witnesses and experts then travel apart from the legal team if the instructions call for it. Name board wording is agreed with you, so the card can show a first name or a code.

Do you cover Ras Al Khaimah Courts?

Yes. A day that starts in Dubai can run to Ras Al Khaimah and back, about 109 km and 79 minutes from DIFC to the courts without traffic. Your car comes from the Assure fleet or our partner network, confirmed when you book. Partner cars are available through our partner network, subject to availability.

Can visiting counsel be met at the airport?

Yes. Send the flight number for DXB or Zayed International (AUH) and the chauffeur meets counsel in arrivals with a name board. The same car can carry on to a hotel, a conference room or the court. Arrival time follows the real landing time, so a late flight does not leave counsel waiting.
